Yaby Cosmetics

Hey!

So guys, you may not know that I don't wear makeup. Yes, this blogger is all natural. Believe it.

But I have a foresaid addiction to makeup, because I learned how to apply it myself. In case, like, there was an international crisis which allowed only those who can apply makeup to defeat the zombies of the apocalypse  due to their reaction to non-hypoallergenic makeup pigments.

But it is really hard to find makeup which can tailor to the needs of those who want professional looking makeup, without needing a model to look good. Well, you know what I mean. And some makeup actually close your pores, unless your a germaphobic and wash your face constantly.

Introducing Yaby Cosmetics  which caters to all your needs. Think that you don't like their combination? No problem, because you can buy an empty palette and fit the concealers, blush, eye shadowand lip gloss in there.

I recently did an interview with Liz Yu, the owner of Yaby Cosmetics. So here is our interview!

1)What would be the top thing a person needs in their make up kit?

A good concealer and blush can do wonders for those blah days.

2) What would you say to people who are starting to wear make up for the first time?

Choose a good makeup line that offers quality pigmented product with little or no perfume.  Pigmented products allow you to wear less makeup while still achieving the desired look.

3)What gave you the idea to start Yaby?

One day, I was working at the CN Tower, using a homemade palette that I created at home. The homemade palette failed me though, and in my frustration  I decided to come up with Yaby, which functional and does not mess up with other people time.

4) What do you say is the first thing an aspiring make up artist should do?
Observe a lot, and offer yourself to experienced artists as assistant.  Know that this may not be an industry for you if you are not prepared to spend a lot of time learning and training.  Don't be shy and practice your skills on everyone who will let you.

5) Do you receive orders for your products from around the world?

We do.  Canada and US primarily, but we have artists ordering Yaby from Asia, many corners of Europe and South Africa.

6) My readers would like to ask you," Would you think of opening a store for Yaby?"

I did.  But after careful consideration, I decided to open Blur Makeup Room as a home for Toronto and other Canadian makeup artists.  Toronto hasn't had a pro makeup store for many years and I feel our artists deserve a place of support.  Blur Makeup Room is a safe haven for new and experienced artists to connect, share and network.

7) How does it feel when you see articles about your product?

It touches me every time.  My first love for makeup was know that I was able to help someone overcome a skin issue that she has been fighting her entire life.  My motivation to create Yaby was to help makeup artists travel lighter, stay organized, and being eco friendly at the same time.  When I see articles of Yaby highlighting how Yaby has made things easier for the artist, whether its on the job, or getting to and from their jobs, it makes all the years I put into the company all worth it.

8) When did you start wanting to become a makeup artist?

My journey into makeup artistry began when I was working at Aveda. At the time I had managed 3 locations in Toronto. My passion of putting makeup on other people was not immediate, as I am an extreme germaphobe. It wasn't until this beautiful girl who came in to the store looking for a miracle concealer for her vitiligo patches across her face, that made me realize how much I can do with makeup. She had searched high and low for years for a realistic cover for her patches, and in her shopping bag were concealers from all brands you could imagine, yet nothing she was told to buy could make her feel "normal". I told her I would show her the 3 things she needs, a concealer, powder foundation and a brush, and how to use them. 5 minutes later, she was in tears and I fell in love with the art of makeup. For the next few months, I worked on perfecting my skill on one thing each day on every customer who would let me touch up that part of their makeup.

Hope you guys decide to invest in Yaby Makeup! And if you have free time, head to the Blur Makeup room, that is, if you live in Toronto.

See ya!
